Who’s Eligible?
Let’s break it down:
- You’re a real-life human (no robots, sorry)
- You’re buying a new home, not an existing one (that’s where we come in)
- You’re 18+ (or applying for an exemption if you’re not quite there yet)
- You’re an Aussie citizen or permanent resident
- You’ve never owned residential property in Australia before
- You plan to live in the home for at least 6 continuous months within the first year
- Your home (house + land) is under $750,000
- You haven’t claimed the FHOG in another state before — this is a one-time-only deal
If you ticked all those boxes? Big green light. Let’s get building.
How to Apply (Spoiler: It’s Super Easy)
You can apply for the FHOG in WA:

Through your lender (the easiest way — they handle the paperwork for you)

Online via the WA Government’s FHOG portal

Directly through the Office of State Revenue if you’re feeling DIY
